"ECOPOLIS Corporation" completed the development of business process concepts for the enterprise "NPO AURUS"

Ecopolis Corporation is the only complex of enterprises for environmentally friendly recycling of waste electronic and electrical equipment in Russia. The company consists of 3 plants: Ecotehprom, engaged in recycling of electronic and electrical equipment, Ecoplast, processing case plastics from electronics and household appliances and producing recycled plastic pellets, and Aurus - recently built plant for recycling of copper scrap and PCB scrap and producing copper cathode.

Project prerequisites

Corporation management turned to Odyssey Consulting Group to support the launch of the recycling of printed circuit boards into copper and precious metals at the Aurus plant. At the time of the project launch the company was debugging and launching production facilities and did not have a single list of business processes, as well as appropriate automation. It was necessary to build scalable business processes, keeping them relevant in the process of integration with 1C-based solutions operating at the other two factories of the corporation. Odyssey Consulting Group was chosen as the partner for project implementation because of its recognized expertise in building and automating production business processes based on various ERP systems and its relevant experience in implementing similar projects for big enterprises including gold mining and processing industries.

Implementation

Odyssey Consulting Group consultants made a deep analysis of technological processes of the plant taking into account the Aurus production specifics. A complete description of the requirements to the target business processes of the company was formed based on the analysis. Then  the manufacturing operations of the future plant were modelled, and schemes and descriptions of business processes for further automation in the "1C:ERP" were made. The project was successfully implemented in 2 months.

Results

At the end of the project, the Aurus plant team received detailed schemes and descriptions of business processes, as well as elaborated role models of future processes. The design was implemented taking into account the specifics of the operations performed at the other two factories of Ecopolis, so the final solution was logically built into the IT circuit of the corporation. When designing the solution, Odyssey Consulting Group experts took into account not only standard functionality of "1C:ERP". As a result of the project a list of modifications was created, the implementation of which will take into account all the features of the Aurus production process. For example, consultants provided integration with dedicated system of quality control, laid the possibility of integration with automatic scales installed at each stage of production. The consultants offered a number of non-standard solutions for automating routine processes of the plant. Thus, an automated workstation for the coordination of purchases of inventory and raw materials was developed, where the system creates consolidated purchase orders, receiving them from different employees of the company, and then sends them centrally for coordination. Integration with power, water, oxygen and carbon dioxide metering systems was also envisaged. Such integration solution will allow Aurus to increase accuracy of calculation of production costs at each production stage. Necessity of such approach to accounting is stipulated by peculiarities of the technological process as in the melting furnace there are always products from different batches of raw materials. In this case it is possible to accurately calculate the amount of resources used to produce each batch only with the help of specialized sensors. Within the  project Odyssey Consulting Group specialists created descriptions of objects, entities and system modifications that should be used to automate the business processes of the plant. The development of such instructions was a non-trivial task: it was necessary to think in detail about the target state of the future system before its implementation.
