Vostochnaya Technika company, the official Caterpillar dealer, has finished the implementation of WMS-system for warehouse processes automation. The project was implemented by Odyssey specialists on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations platform.
Before the implementation of the WMS each warehouse of Vostochnaya Technika had a separate accounting system based on Microsoft Dynamics AX, which impeded the processes of centralized management of warehouse activities and data exchange between the information systems of the company. The management of Vostochnaya Technika set the contractor the task of implementing a comprehensive solution to automate the warehouse with the possibility of subsequent scaling to all divisions of the company.
Vostochnaya Technika is a company that strives for constant development: it does not stand still and implements various solutions to improve internal processes. One of the key tasks in this area is the continuous optimization of warehouse processes. The objectives of the project include:
increasing the accuracy of planning of warehouse operations;
reducing the impact of human factor on the end-to-end business processes;
creating a tool for motivation management;
providing an opportunity for detailed analysis of operational data;
forming an information base for management decision making;
reducing the time for standardized operations.
To fulfill its objectives, the company Vostochnaya technika needed a reliable partner with a proven experience of similar projects and a high level of technical competence. Odyssey with its specialists proposed the optimal logics of implementation and development of the WMS solution. The IT consultants were also able to demonstrate their experience in similar tasks. For the past 20 years Odyssey has been successfully implementing logistics solutions on the Russian market and builds WMS solutions of any complexity.
At the first stage of the project Odyssey traveled to the customer's site in Irkutsk where Odyssey consultants examined the current state of business processes and determined technical requirements to the future system. Based on the results of the analysis a design solution was formed and a list of necessary modifications to the system was approved. After the final approval of the WMS target architecture, development and construction of the functionality of the future solution began.
In the middle of the project the Odyssey team encountered COVID-19 related constraints that made it impossible for them to stay at the customer's site. Under the prevailing conditions, all project processes were transferred to remote mode as quickly as possible. Thanks to the use of modern digital tools for the organization of remote work, as well as the professionalism of the staff on both sides, the pace of implementation was maintained and project timelines were met.
The result of the project was the successful implementation of a centralized WMS that meets all of the customer's business requirements. Odyssey consultants built a reference solution for warehouse management that was approved for replication at all warehouse divisions of Eastern Technics. At the moment, the solution has been put into operation at the warehouse in Irkutsk.
The warehouse process management system based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations has increased the efficiency of the Irkutsk warehouse. The Vostochnaya Technika specialists got the opportunity to optimize the use of storage space, monitor the work of personnel, and reduce the time to perform routine operations without the need to expand the staff.
Next stage in the development of WMS Vostochnaya Technika will be the adaptation of the solution in warehouses in other Siberian regions.
