The largest natural leather factory in Europe, JSC Russkaya Kozha, decided to switch to an ERP system based on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. The project was entrusted to the consulting company Odyssey.
Group of companies Russkaya Kozha is an association of six enterprises and organizations engaged in the production and sale of natural leather and finished products from it. Russkaya Kozha Group produces clothing, haberdashery, furniture leather, special leather for the military-industrial complex, as well as leather for shoes, car interiors, aviation, etc. Hundreds of Russian and foreign organizations are clients of Russkaya Kozha. The Ryazan tannery JSC Russkaya Kozha is the largest producer of natural leather in Russia, the plant accounts for 35% of the total leather production in the country.
The production of natural leather has a number of features associated with the uniqueness of the technological process. The industry is characterized by its own nuances of working with raw materials and the sale of manufactured products, which affects the specifics of demand forecasting, calculation of profitability and cost of products. This imposes on any production of genuine leather special requirements for its organization and automation. Before the project, the Ryazan Tannery used a large number of systems - many programs of its own development and other solutions, the enterprise needed to create a single platform for managing key processes.

The decisive factor in choosing a supplier was the proposal of an optimal approach for the enterprise - not just automation of existing business processes, but also the search for opportunities to improve them. So during the pre-project survey, Odyssey consultants suggested ways to optimize production planning. As a result, the plant management decided to work with Odyssey on the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 platform.
The project started from the main enterprise of the group of companies - the Ryazan tannery JSC Russkaya Kozha. The main goals of the project were: creating conditions for prompt tracking of production, reducing the minimum order quantity, increasing the level of customer service, as well as the accuracy of forecasting delivery dates.
" The commodity nomenclature of "Russian Leather" is very diverse. We have recently added a new type of product to our offer - for car manufacturers. This direction of production requires a high level of service from us, accuracy in meeting deadlines and volumes of deliveries. Therefore, we and the system have new tasks that are related to the efficient use of production resources and an increase in the turnover and profitability of our products,” comments Sergey Rychagov, Project Director of Russkaya Kozha JSC.
The main objective of the first stage of the project is to automate the main supply chain, from the purchase of raw materials and chemicals to the sale of products, with an emphasis on production and production planning. As part of the same stage, the Odyssey team implements proposals for product clustering, that is, its division into groups depending on liquidity, demand frequency and turnover. Such a strategy for working with the nomenclature will help the plant’s specialists determine the optimal volumes of insurance warehouse stocks, as well as the production volumes of crust - blanks for further processing of products. .
